Commission Management FAQ
Everything you need to know about automated commission management, payout processing, and commission structures.
How does automated commission calculation work?
Affiliate Manager automatically calculates commissions when a sale is detected through webhooks from connected platforms like Stripe, Shopify, or Gumroad. The system tracks the sale amount, applies your configured commission percentage, and attributes it to the correct affiliate in real-time. No manual calculation needed.
Can I set different commission rates for different affiliates?
Yes! Each affiliate can have a custom commission rate that overrides your organization's default rate. For example, you might set a 10% default rate but give your top affiliate 20%. You can update these rates anytime from the affiliate management dashboard.
What information is tracked for each commission?
For every sale, Affiliate Manager records: sale amount, commission amount, commission rate used, platform where the sale occurred, customer email (when available), affiliate who earned it, and timestamp. All this data is available in your sales reports and affiliate dashboards.
How do I track pending vs paid commissions?
Each sale has a status (pending, approved, paid, or rejected). You can view pending commissions that need to be paid out in the payouts section. Once you mark a payout as paid, those commissions are updated and tracked in the payout history.
Can I export commission data for payment processing?
Yes! You can export pending commissions as CSV files from the payouts dashboard. This export includes affiliate details, payment amounts, and all necessary information to process payments through your preferred payment method (PayPal, bank transfer, etc.).
How do I manage commission payouts?
The payouts dashboard shows all pending commissions organized by affiliate. You can review amounts, create payout records, and mark them as paid once you've processed the payments. The system tracks all payout history including dates, amounts, and payment methods used.
Can I see commission history for a specific affiliate?
Yes! The admin dashboard shows detailed commission history for each affiliate including all their sales, total commissions earned, pending amounts, and payout history. You can filter by date range and see exactly which sales contributed to their earnings. This data can be exported as CSV for sharing with affiliates.
What commission rate should I set?
Common commission rates range from 10-30% depending on your industry and profit margins. Digital products typically offer 20-50%, while physical products are usually 5-15%. You can start with a base rate and adjust individual affiliates based on their performance and relationship with your business.
